Install on your Garmin watch
Download the file for your watch model and copy it onto the watch over USB. No store account, no pairing step. The watch app runs on its own and also receives incidents pushed from the companion.

How to install
Step 1 — connect
Plug the watch into your computer with its charging/data cable. On Windows the watch appears as a drive. On macOS, modern Garmin watches use MTP — install OpenMTP (free) to browse the watch.
Step 2 — copy the file
Copy the downloaded .prg into the watch folder
GARMIN/APPS. That is the only step — no renaming.
Step 3 — eject and open
Safely eject the watch and unplug it. Open the activity/app list on the watch — The Long Walk is there. The watch verifies the file on first launch, then moves it into internal storage (this is normal; the file leaves the visible folder).
Step 4 — set the cordon
Open the app menu on the watch and choose New Cordon to enter charge weight, fill, and casing — the rings compute on the watch. Or push incidents from the companion app over Garmin Connect. Sideloaded apps do not use the Connect IQ phone settings screen, so set everything on the watch or via the push.
Good to know
- Updates are manual: when a new version is posted here, download it and copy it over the old one the same way.
- To remove the app, use the Connect IQ app on your phone or Garmin Express — deleting the file from the folder is not enough.
- Verify the download with the SHA-256 above if your OS lets you (
shasum -a 256 <file>on macOS/Linux). - This is a planning and training aid built on published safety models. It does not replace official ordnance tables or a qualified technician's judgement.
